• The cell study is worth €2.000, including consultation, individual study protocol, the choice of one of three cell types (human monocytes from healthy blood donoers, mouse macrophages, or primary human fibroblasts), the analysis of two (2) parameters (monocytes: LPS-mediated IL-6 and TNFalpha release, macrophages: LPS-mediated nitric oxide (NO) and reactive oxygen species (ROS), fibroblasts: IL-1 mediated IL-6 and prostaglandin E2).
• Cell studies can take from 1-2 weeks to 3-6 months to complete, depending on the choice for a cell type and parameters. The exact duration of each cell study can be determined after discussions with the individual winners regarding the product, ingredient choice and other aspects relevant for the study.
• All ingredients and additives (such as flavourings, essential oils and preservatives) can be tested in solid or liquid form.
